What competencies does the graduate have? An engineer in industrial management understands business as a whole from the perspectives of technology, economics and management. The degree also provides the graduate with skills to develop industrial service business and new products. Studies teach how to model, analyse and design all the functions and processes required to produce goods and services, e.g. ERP, manufacturing, automation systems, procurement, sales, supply chain management, logistics and quality and ERP systems. The graduate is able to use companies' information systems, such as SAP, and utilize digital information. The student acquires the ability to evaluate profitability and productivity of companies' operations and investments, and to develop their performance. Studies provide the student with expertise in business-to-business sales, customer analytics, business development, various aspects of management as well as entrepreneurial skills. What kind of learning methods are used in the programme? Alongside teaching theory, a lot of learning takes place in working life and through problem-oriented exercises and projects. Learning is supported by operational and financial management software, business game environments suitable for operational and product development, as well as design and simulation software. During the internship periods, students can direct their competencies according to their own competence goals. Studies are implemented in a variety of ways and can also be completed online. Flexible multi-form implementations are available for those already in working life. Students can also complete part of their studies in international student exchange. What kind of career opportunities does the graduate have? Engineering, economics and management studies enable graduates to work in development and expert positions. Possible careers can also be various development, planning, procurement, sales, service and management positions in industry, service companies and in the public sector. Job titles for industrial management engineers vary by tasks and areas of responsibility. The job title can be, for example, development engineer, design engineer, production planner, production engineer, quality engineer, project engineer or project manager, sales engineer, inspection engineer, purchasing manager, logistics manager, sales manager or production manager. The range of jobs for graduates in the field is wide.
