What competencies does the graduate have? A purchasing and logistics expert understands the roles of organisations in international value networks. They also know how to act in business relationships as individuals to enhance organisations' business objectives. A graduate also knows how to ensure that goods, information, capital, and people move efficiently, effectively, and economically in both the domestic and international environment. A purchasing and logistics engineer can search for information, analyse and take decisions considering both technical, economic, and sustainable development aspects. A graduate has a future-oriented mindset that supports continuous development of businesses and organisations. What kind of learning methods are used in the programme? Teaching methods include interactive lectures, work-based assignments and projects, laboratory exercises, information system and software exercises, simulation games, company visits, internships, and theses. Students are encouraged to complete part of their studies (1-2 semesters) in international student exchange. They also have an opportunity to complete the required practical training abroad. What kind of career opportunities does the graduate have? Purchasing and logistics engineers are needed everywhere regardless of the field or size of the organisation. Graduates can work, for example in industry, trade, or public sector organisations. Graduates may work as planners, developers, managers, consultants, trainers, supervisors or entrepreneurs. Possible job titles include procurement specialist, buyer, purchasing engineer, procurement and sourcing analyst, logistics engineer, development engineer, inventory manager, supply chain coordinator, warehouse manager, logistics manager or transport manager.
