Die Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) ist eine Universität des Landes Bayern in München. Sie wurde 1472 in Ingolstadt gegründet, im Jahre 1800 nach Landshut und 1826 schließlich nach München verlegt. Sie ist benannt nach ihrem Gründer Herzog Ludwig IX. sowie dem bayerischen König Maximilian I. Joseph, der sie nach Landshut holte.
